Sports and deep tissue massage are forms of treatments that can be used by athletes, professional
and amateur alike, as well as the non-sporting among us due to the significant benefits sports
massage can provide.
Sports massage is used to help keep muscles functioning correctly, as a result it will help to improve
sporting performance, reduces pain and discomfort in our daily lives.
Regular sports massage helps to reduce the risk of injury from sprains, strains and muscle tears,
having regular post-event sports massage helps to aid recovery by reducing DOMs (Delayed Onset of
Muscle Soreness), it will help to re–establish a full range of motion and increases blood flow to tired
and fatigued muscles.
Remedial massages can be used in the treatment of specific injuries, such as hamstring and calf
strains, as well as to correct muscular imbalances along with both overuse and repetitive strain
injuries, sports massage is also used to correct postural issues.
Sports and Deep tissue massage helps to ease chronic pain caused by our sports, hobby’s, jobs and
lifestyle, Injuries, such as, a stiff neck, upper and lower back pain, leg muscle tightness and sore
shoulders can all be eased and corrected by sports massage.
Sports massage focuses on realigning the deep layers of muscle tissue using slow deep pressure concentrated on areas of chronic tension or injury.
The techniques and strokes are applied using hands, forearms and elbows and a range of other techniques help to physically break down muscular adhesions, which are rigid muscle tissues that reduce circulation and can restrict movement.
We aim to correct these muscle tissues in order to prevent future injuries and improve the performance of our muscles which in turn will enhance and improve our sporting performance.
A regular treatment can help prevent injury by improving the condition of the muscles. Sports and deep tissue massage has a number of physical, physiological and psychological benefits, such as:
