Description
Is Sports Massage Right for Me?
The name Sports Massage describes an overall approach to massage therapy, rather than something that’s exclusively for sportsmen and women, you don’t need to take part in sport to benefit from sports massage. Sports massage is highly effective for people from all walks of life, particularly for anyone looking to improve flexibility, ease tight or painful muscles or combat postural or musculoskeletal pain – whether from an everyday injury or simply (and frequently) from spending long hours at a desk.
Sports Massage techniques can also be used to reduce the impact of previous injuries, and the resulting scar tissue that may be impacting on your body’s ability to heal or move properly.
What Is Sports Massage Like?
Sports Massage is not a relaxing, tranquil treatment that you’d find at a spa or beautician. Instead, it’s a therapy that can improve the quality of movement, boost recovery from injury or exercise and ease pain. Sports massage is a much more intense form of massage, the therapist will work much deeper into the muscle tissue, at times this can be uncomfortable, the therapist will always have a specific aim for this deep work, during the treatment, the therapist will continually update you on what they are doing and why, all Therapists are used to working and adapting the depth of pressure to each client’s individual tolerance level, so you shouldn’t experience too much discomfort.
Sports Massage is carried out by soft tissue therapists who are highly qualified professionals who have been rigorously trained in the musculoskeletal structure and anatomy of the human body.

After this, your therapist will proceed to work on the affected area and following treatment you will be advised on future treatment, as well as any self-care techniques.
What should I wear?
Feel free to wear whatever is comfortable, however, bringing a pair of shorts and a tee-shirt to wear during the postural assessment, the Therapist will then advise on which items of clothing you need to remove for the treatment, leave the room whilst you get changed and will give you towels with which to cover and drape yourself.
